Spiced Sangria

Turn Aureate Artisan Foods Mulled Wine Syrup into a cool summer drink! This recipe has more depth of flavour than your usual sangria.
Ingredients

1 jar of Aureate Artisan Foods Mulled Wine Syrup (red or uncoloured)

1 bottle (750ml) red wine: preferably a Spanish red (Rioja, Tempranillo, or Garnacha) is traditional, but Merlot or Pinot Noir also work well

2 cups sparkling water or soda water

½ cup orange juice, freshly squeezed

2 granny smith apples, cored and chopped

Optional: ½ cup brandy (or orange liqueur like Cointreau/Triple Sec for more sweetness)

Optional: 1 cup frozen mixed berries

Ice: For serving
Method
Combine ingredients in a large pitcher or jug. That’s it! Refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours and then serve with ice.
Variations: Substitute red wine with white wine, rosé, sparkling grape juice, or add in seasonal fruits like stone fruit or berries. If you substitute with a pale alcohol or juice it is recommended to add the uncoloured version of Aureate Artisan Foods Mulled Wine Syrup so as not to colour the drink.
